Introduction
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman investigates and publishes a significant number of cases, where complaints have been made about social care financial assessments, highlighting delays and poor assessments.
This new virtual classroom seminar explains in detail how the local authority work out how much a client should pay for their care.
The session is aimed at fee earners who advise older and vulnerable adults, their family, attorney or deputy where the local authority financially assists the client.

- When the local authority is obliged to financially contribute towards care
- The statutory basis for charging
- How much the client should be allowed to keep
- The client keeping disability related expenditure and what it covers
- Review of Ombudsman cases where local authorities have got it wrong
