Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for general insurance firms who are authorised by the FCA under a Part IV permission and who additionally have permissions to hold client money under CASS 5.

The session will provide attendees with a clear understanding of their obligations and requirements under the CASS 5 rules, to ensure that they are operating a robust and compliant CASS environment.

It will also inform attendees of the current CASS hot topics that the FCA are focusing on and attempt to dispel various myths and ambiguities in the market surrounding the application of the CASS 5 rules and what constitutes a breach of those rules.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Clarification of the concept of ‘what is client money’ and how can client money be held
  • A summary of the purpose underlying the CASS 5 client money rules
  • A detailed look at what constitutes a compliant ‘client money calculation’ and the purpose of the ‘client by client reconciliation’
  • A look at what are the most common CASS 5 breaches and how to avoid them
  • Credit write backs - latest market thinking on interaction with fiduciary duties and trust law
  • A look at the current FCA interpretations on the CASS rules and ‘hot topics’

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
