Introduction

Now more than ever, with pressures on the court system the 26-week timetable means that you need to think and act quickly - whether you act for parents, local authority or children’s guardian. Time is not on the child’s side with the stampede to clear backlogs and achieve stability for children once removed from parents.

So - how can effective representation and optimal outcome be achieved?

The hurdles can seem unsurmountable but with careful thought you can get there - even where you have an adverse expert - nearly always on a link which can be problematical in itself meaning your time to question is extremely limited. Before that though you need to consider research, material which must be of relevance to your case. Directions given that this material goes to the expert in advance of the final hearing. Sometimes - additional material comes to light during the hearing - including other research papers - what then and how to approach it?

You may have evidence served on you - part of which is helpful and other parts not so - how do you deal with it so you only really draw the judge’s attention to the information you want to get out - if what is adverse material to the issues to be determined or simply peripheral - see what is available PFR to assist.
