Serious Disruption Prevention Orders - What’s New?
Introduction
Yet another ancillary order! Serious Disruption Prevention Orders (SDPO’s) were brought into force in April 2024 in order to deal with the perceived problems caused by protestors. These orders are a form of Criminal Behaviour order but only aimed at people convicted of protest offences.
They are also available as free-standing civil applications on the part of the police. This speedy course is for prosecutors, defence lawyers and legal advisers dealing with protest applications. It may also be of interest to senior police officers with a law degree. Court duty solicitors - you may find yourselves drawn into such matters.
