Short Term Let Licences in Scotland - What You Need to Know
Introduction
New legislation has been introduced requiring anyone letting a property, including a guesthouse, on a short-term basis, to apply for and hold a licence from the relevant local authority. This is a new concept and is applied across all of Scotland.
The legislation is still developing and updated Orders are being introduced, so it is important to keep up to date with changes. Being aware of the rules and how to obtain a licence will help you to better advise your clients and know what is needed at the outset of a transaction.
