Introduction

The way that personal tax applies to professional sports people is incredibly nuanced. The tax implications of deals are hugely important to the players, and therefore agents, sports lawyers and other professionals need to be acutely aware of the key issues to consider. There is a tangible shift in how professionals who support athletes approach their taxes.

Between September 2021 to December 2021, HMRC issued on average 1,062 investigations per day. Elite athletes are now wising up to the consequences of getting things wrong from a tax perspective. They expect their advisers to be flagging up any tax issues so that they know when to seek specific tax advice.

This virtual classroom seminar will enable you to fully understand the potential tax traps of advising elite athletes. It will also enable you to know how to support your clients and when and how to instruct a tax expert to advise.
